Course Goals
My goals for this course include learning how to integrate technology into daily formative assessments and to find other ways that I can use technology to help differentiate learning for students. It is important to assess student learning as instruction is occurring to verify that students grasp the concepts that are being taught. It is often difficult to conduct these types of formative assessments quickly and effectively; however, I believe that through technology use I can implement formative assessments quickly and effectively. I can use this information to guide further instruction. Also, I recognize that students do not all learn in the same way. Some students prefer visual learning, some students prefer hands-on interactions, and some students prefer more auditory cues to aid in their learning. I would like to integrate technology use into differentiating assignments for my students.
I can meet these goals by participating in this course and by researching various ways that I can use technology in the areas discussed. I can also poll other teachers and see what methods and ways that they use technology in their classrooms in these areas. I will know that I have achieved these goals when I can complete a lesson and use some method of technology as an exit ticket to complete formative assessments with to see where the students are with the new content. I can use the information from the formative assessment to guide my teaching for the following day. This would also be a useful tool in observations to show how many students mastered the objectives for the day. I will know that I have integrated technology use into differentiating assignments for my students when I can have technology being used at different levels for and assignment or for different ways of completing an assignment in a lesson. This could be shown in a lesson plan or through direct observation of the lesson.
